Procurement Manager

A procurement manager possesses extensive knowledge of raw materials and services required for mechanical and manufacturing company production. These expertise makes them an invaluable resource to firms as they are able to order what is needed at the best possible price.
Exact job duties will depend on the size and field of an employer’s business, but the chief responsibilities will be to coordinate purchase plans and procedures, evaluate different vendors’ offerings, place orders and arrange delivery. In larger organisations, good communication skills allow procurement managers to delegate.
As the job requires good product and part knowledge, applicants are expected to have a background in the industry. Employees prefer incumbents to hold a Bachelors degree in finance, business administration, purchasing or equivalent. Most positions require individuals to network and build up working relationships with suppliers.
Mechanical and manufacturing industry employers throughout Canada are constantly on the lookout for professionals. Salaries vary with location and level of experience, but are usually in the range of C
$50,000 to C
$70,000 per annum.
