Nutritionist
Nutritionists have a thorough understanding of how food affects the biology of the body. They are trained medical professionals who work closely with patients in order to help them understand their own dietary needs. Responsibilities include compiling menus and diet plans, and teaching patients how to eat healthily.
A nutritionist is required to have a dietetics degree and often needs to obtain a licence to practice. There are excellent opportunities for developing a career in this particular medical field in areas such as research, public health, education and sales.
As people focus more on healthy living, getting more exercise and what it is they are putting into their bodies, the role of the nutritionist has become ever more important. The job involves working closely with people, often those with weight or other health issues, so a good level of interpersonal skill is essential.
