Molecular Biology

A career in molecular biology requires experience in lab research. This involves designing and conducting experiments, and being able to interpret and record the results accurately. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this job, as well as the possession of a high level of computer literacy.
Molecular biologists often have to apply for funding to carry out research, so having excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are essential, as well as having the ability to produce scientific manuscripts. The skills to work as part of a team are another asset, as is the ability to work alone under ones own initiative. The supervision of technical staff is another key skill.
A PhD in a related scientific field is essential. Research experience is also required for this position, as well as experience with producing grant applications. Having experience in supervising staff may be required. The average salary in molecular biology ranges from C
$75,000 to C
$150,000.
