Jobs in the modeling industry are generally regarded as glamorous and can end up being well-paid if the right work comes in. Essentially, models pose for photographers, TV cameras, and artists. However, they also display clothes for clothing manufacturers and the stores that sell their products.
There are many different kinds of models, with artists' models typically working for individual painters, sculptors or photographers. Many models work part-time for art schools. For figure drawing, individuals must be comfortable wearing little or no clothing and have the ability to hold a specific pose for a considerable amount of time.
Photographic models, or print models, may be hired by advertising agencies as well as freelance photographers. Given the right opportunity, a photographic model might end up appearing on a magazine cover. To reach such heights in the modeling industry, models have to be attractive and photogenic, with an ability to change their expressions and portray different moods.
Lastly, fashion models work for clothing manufacturers, magazines, retail stores, and dress designers, often walking down the runway and working in showrooms or department stores.
Those just starting out as models usually have other part-time jobs but as their careers progress, they are able to pursue modeling on a permanent basis. Models are normally paid a fixed rate per job, with rates varying greatly.
