Maintenance Electrician

A maintenance electrician is responsible for the proper functionality and upkeep of all electrical systems and equipment in a particular facility. An employee in such role is generally recruited by residential and commercial complexes. They work under the maintenance manager’s supervision and are required to carry out all assigned tasks.
The main duties in the role are to ensure all electrical units are properly functioning, to carry out scheduled checks for malfunctions, and to appropriately handle and use electrical repair and testing equipment. It is also necessary to comply with the correct safety regulations and to keep a log of electrical maintenance and repair work.
To be considered for the role, it is important to have the ability to recognize technical malfunctions within electrical units, to understand how to use and handle electrical repair equipment and tools, and be able to effectively coordinate work functions and to manage time with co-workers.
To be qualified for the role of maintenance electrician, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or another related field of study, as well as two to three years of experience as an electrician, is required. The median salary in Canada for this role is C
$48,000.
