Lpn
A licensed practical nurse, or Lpn, works directly under a registered nurse in performing tasks such as administrating patients with treatment and medication which has already been prescribed by a doctor or physician. They are essential for performing tasks which allow doctors and senior nurses to see more patients.
The job holder must undergo up to two years’ training and have successfully completed certification exams. Among the duties involved are checking a patient’s vital signs, making sure they are fed and washed, and preparing tests for the laboratory. This type of work requires excellent interpersonal skills as it involves constant, hands-on contact with patients.
As Lpns are needed anywhere physicians and registered nurses need help, there are opportunities throughout the healthcare system, in hospitals, private practices, private residences and other care facilities.
The position holder can expect to earn around C
$40,000 annually. There are excellent opportunities for competent LPNs to advance in the healthcare system. Health and criminal background checks are likely to be insisted upon.
