Interpreter

An interpreter is someone who can translate information from one language to another. This can be in oral, written or sign language form. Special considerations like the confidentiality of clients are an important part of this job.
Fluency in at least two languages is the most important quality for an interpreter to have. Besides straight translation, they must also have sufficient mastery over the language to be able to interpret the finer nuances of the language and the information at hand.
Written materials to be translated include legal documents, news reports, and scientific articles. Attention to detail, superior listening skills and an ability to work quickly are essential qualities of this job. Clerical knowledge such as word processing, record keeping and filing is also useful.

$37,000 per year.
