Credit Risk

Credit risk is the term used to describe the likelihood of a borrower not repaying the money that they wish to borrow. Credit risk analysts are employed to calculate the probability of that repayment. Using existing data and statistics, they create risk scoring systems, which underwriters can consult in order to make loan decisions. Analysts, who normally require a degree in mathematics, statistics or another relevant subject, receive average salaries of £32,000, or £40,000 in the London region
Administrator-level positions offer salaries of around £16,000 and are suitable for those with a background in finance processing. Duties involve processing credit checks, reporting updates and responding to queries.
Managers provide overall direction to the risk team. They ensure that the firm they work for follows proper procedures during risk assessment and that any credit-related decisions are made according to established principles of the profession. Managers also work with other professionals to create company policy and risk-management procedures. Average salaries are between £30,000 and £45,000 per annum.
