Corporate Finance

Individuals specializing in corporate finance are heavily involved in an organization’s evaluation of its budgets, investments, performance and compliance with financial regulations, taxes and generally accepted accounting principles. These highly skilled workers evaluate and report on a company’s operating data and help management and the financial department to determine proper working capital levels and ratios for capital structure.
Corporate finance specialists typically find work in financial firms and business entities, though they can also work with government agencies, business advisory organizations or public accounting firms.
Those seeking positions in this field are generally required to have a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in finance, accounting, auditing or a related field and must possess mathematical and financial analysis skills. It is also helpful to have experience in capital markets, taxation and international finance transactions. Depending on the exact role, starting salaries in Canada can range from C
$40,000 to
$50,000 a year and can extend up to C
$100,000 and higher for well-seasoned individuals in management positions.
