Construction jobs can involve a variety of positions such as project manager, construction labourer and surveyor. Labourers are required to perform physical tasks such as tunnel excavations and to work on building sites. They may be required to operate machinery such as cement mixers, mechanical hoists and measuring equipment. Duties include cleaning up, preparing the site and erecting scaffolding.
Project managers are required to be well organized as well as to have the skills needed to work within budgets, milestone dates and resources. They need to have good communication skills in order to liaise with clients and to lead their team.
A site supervisor’s duties include the organization and review of resources in a team environment. They manage the construction site and are responsible for organizing budgets, hiring staff and working with logistical operations.
Applicants need to have knowledge of safety regulations and ensure that other employees are aware of such safety practices. Site supervisors need to have good interpersonal skills to work with clients and other team members. The job may require travelling to remote sites. Construction work provides a minimum salary of C
$12 per hour depending on the position.
