Due to the technicality of a Cnc machinist role, it is important that the job holder possesses a variety of skills. A Cnc controlled machine works with predetermined computers settings to achieve precision cutting of wood, plastic or metal, but the Cnc machinist must oversee this process to ensure a brief is fulfilled.
In order to achieve the correct measurements, this person will examine blueprints along with other specific work instructions. They will then program the Cnc machines to produce the product that meets the exact requirements the client has requested.
A person in this role will often need to be able to lift heavy equipment; therefore, good physical health is essential. In addition to this, they will need an analytical mind. Experience with cutting machines, and a good grasp of mathematics and geometry will also be highly beneficial.
No formal education is required, as on the job training is given by nearly all employers. Some experience in this field will be an asset to the prospective candidate. The average salary for this position is C
