Claims

There are a wide variety of jobs under the banner of insurance claims ranging from actuaries and auditors to policy processing clerks and financial advisors. Broadly, those working in this sector deal with the examination of the validity of a policy holder’s claim once it has been submitted, deciding what action is necessary and organising services which are promised under that policy
Many of those working in claims are also charged with spotting fraud and making sure that applications are valid. Depending on the exact nature of the job, working in this area can involve visiting customers and researching the cause of an accident or circumstances behind any loss. A claims inspector, for example, will negotiate any payments to a customer and also contact other professionals such as trades people required to make any repairs or the police and medical services for relevant information on injuries
Working in this sector requires good interpersonal skills and excellent attention to detail along with a detailed knowledge of the various insurance packages. The average salary of an inspector in this field is between £20,000 and £40,000 per year depending on experience.
