Those working in the chemical field are employed in numerous types of organisations; their services are essential to the manufacturing and processing of numerous products including pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, foods, electronics, fuels, textiles, house ware, toys, automobile parts, cleaning products and many more everyday items
Common posts in this field include the different kinds of chemists; analytical chemists as well as organic, inorganic and quantum chemists, among others. Additionally there are pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, laboratory technicians and other medical professionals, all of whom must have sufficient knowledge of chemistry
There is a unique set of requirements for each role. However, applicants for most posts in the field are expected to have at least a Bachelors degree in chemistry. Pharmaceutical positions however will require a degree in pharmacy as well as certification via the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Those working in chemical field jobs in the United Kingdom see a wide variety of salaries. On average, chemists can make anywhere from £20,000 to in excess of £50,000 per year, whilst pharmacists generally make close to £40,000 per year. Pharmacy technicians typically see between £20,000 and £30,000 per year.
