Chemical Engineering

Physics, math, and economics are all important tools chemical engineers use during the course of their challenging careers. These are the only engineers who use chemical knowledge along with knowledge of other engineering disciplines, and are sometimes known as 'universal engineers' because their field of expertise is so vast.
These engineers use applied chemistry to design, build and operate machinery where chemical reactions are used to manufacture products or solve problems. They may also devise ways to make products more environmentally friendly, more affordable, or more efficient. The petrochemical and chemical industries are where most chemical engineering careers can be found, but these engineers also have close working relationships with scientists, chemists, and other engineers.
Chemical engineering university degrees, or university degrees in other engineering fields, are necessary to enter this career. Some positions may also require Masters or doctoral degrees. A professional engineering license is also necessary to legally pursue a career in this field where salaries range from around C
$41,000 to C
$90,800.
