Biology

Professionals in biology not only study various plant and animal species, but also how these various life forms interact with each other, how species change and evolve, and the things which make life possible.
Most careers in this field specialise in specific plant or animal species, but a life sciences background is also helpful in environmental impact study, regulatory, or consulting careers. Careers in research, agriculture, healthcare, and food preparation are also common.
Cellular and molecular biologists specialise in life which cannot be seen by the naked eye, such as bacteria, viruses, and genetic material, while fields dealing with larger animal and plant species are known as macroscopic biology.
University degrees in biology are required in this field, but research scientists require Masters or doctoral degrees. Salaries in this profession vary greatly, but average between C
$38,000 and C
$74,000.
