Airline

Positions in the airline industry vary enormously, from the hands-on plum jobs of pilot and cabin crew, through to maintenance of the aircraft and customer service jobs, such as check-in staff and general administration positions. Varying levels of training, qualifications and expertise are required, all depending on the position offered.
Openings can be found in every major Canadian airport as well as at the airline’s head office. From entry-level to jobs requiring highly qualified and experienced staff, there are positions of interest in this industry for a wide range of job-seekers.
Apart from the obvious qualifications and experience required for pilots, certain jobs in this sector will require excellent people skills and the ability to work as a team, whether on the aircraft, in ‘front-office’ jobs or in admin and maintenance departments.
Salaries vary hugely, dependent on the size and location of the airline and the responsibilities involved, with travel perks often offered as a bonus. Many jobs in the sector require membership of a trade union, with basic salaries at hourly rates of C
$10 upwards and the ‘sky’s the limit’ for managerial and flying posts.
